Surplus Solutions Opens New Livermore, California Site to Sustainably Support West Coast Life Sciences Market

Sangamo Therapeutics R&D lab equipment goes to auction Sept 14 from the new Bay Area facility in Livermore, followed by cGMP manufacturing equipment Oct 5.

LIVERMORE, CA, UNITED STATES, September 9, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Surplus Solutions, a leader in Equipment Lifecycle Management (ELM) services, today announced that it has acquired laboratory and cGMP manufacturing equipment from the estate of Sangamo Therapeutics, Inc., and will offer the assets to the market through two timed online auctions this fall.

Sangamo Therapeutics, a cell and gene therapy developer, filed for Chapter 11 protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware on June 23, 2026 (Case No. 26-10989 (CTG)). Sale orders covering the equipment were entered on August 20, 2026, following a court-supervised process held August 10–11, 2026.

The equipment spans the full development path of a cell and gene therapy program — analytical chemistry and biophysical characterization, protein purification, flow cytometry, and single-use bioprocessing at clinical scale. Surplus Solutions has divided the offering into two events so that buyers can bid on the assets most relevant to their own workflows.

Two Operating California Facilities

Livermore is one of two Surplus Solutions facilities in California. The 40,000-square-foot warehouse, refurbishment, and instrument service site serves the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California, including Pleasanton, Dublin, Hayward, Fremont, Emeryville, Berkeley, and South San Francisco. The Murrieta facility serves Southern California, including San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside counties. Between them, the company provides warehousing, refurbishment and testing, expert instrument service and repair, decommissioning, rigging, and logistics, and auction staging capacity at both ends of the state.
